We have subscription services all around us, but I don't see how buying MP3s can be an alternative to Spotify. With Microsoft pushing us to a subscription model of Office, Google Docs comes in handy!

I use free versions of Microsoft Office, and it's never been necessary to pay for the additional features and functionalities. I'd also opt for a NAS drive instead of Dropbox.

All around us, there are all many apps that offer free versions but with limited functionalities. It is good to know that there are plenty of alternatives out there, only if we look closely.

Several ways to restart your computer

I have always been restarting my PC through the Start menu, but the method I like most is through the command prompt, with a batch file. It will be interesting to alternate between all these options, from time-to-time.

I had no idea that we could restart a computer in more than one way. The standard procedure is by going through the start menu, but I see how interesting it can be to experiment with the other methods!

Since there is no 'right' way to restart a computer, I will stick to the usual default way. Indeed, it can be interesting to try the other methods just for variety's sake!

As the article mentions, the "normal" way is through the Start, and that is the most common option. I am equally curious to try out the other methods laid out here.

Do you agree with this review?

Would you choose a Chromebook as the main computer? I wouldn't because other devices are way cheaper but with better specifications. All the same, Pixel Go may be having the best battery life in a laptop!

No, I wouldn't. I love Chromebooks for what they are. I wouldn't purchase an expensive one that has less power than my main computer. That's just silly.

Surely for its price, we'd have expected more than what's on offer. Nonetheless, the article doesn't say much about it not being future-forward enough. Google had better use this feedback to improve on future devices.

The article claims that the Google Pixelbook Go isn't the future, but doesn't clearly outline why it suits the present. Surely for that price, this device should have had more capabilities.

Who still uses or needs an optical drive?

I don't recall the last time I saw an optical drive in any PC. It makes sense for modern laptops to drop the technology as they strive for smaller and thinner devices.

I have not used the optical drive for ages, and I don't even recall the last time I saw it on a laptop. Who still needs one with all the options available now? It's completely unnecessary, in my opinion.

I agree that the desire for more compact computers could have necessitated this. Why would I need an optical drive in this day and age? There are more file storage options now, plus plenty of streaming services available.

The optical drive is no longer useful if the result is lighter and more convenient laptops. It had not hit me that modern devices no longer have them. It just highlights how (quickly) technology evolves.

I have never bothered with opening a laptop, but I see how convenient this can be when it is necessary to remove the cover. I hope opening the case doesn't void a warranty?

I can see why they would do this. There are many people who are upset with the way the inner workings of electronics have been made near inaccessible, especially cell phones. Remember when you could easily take out your cell phone battery?

Back in the day, most cell phones batteries were removable, and it created a problem, especially for those people who kept removing them unnecessarily. The non-removable batteries are long-lasting, in my opinion.

Users have enjoyed free storage for a long time, and it's only fair that the company charges a fee once you cross the 15GB mark. However, this won't be a problem for a majority of users who haven't even used up half of their allocation.

@Kate, I sometimes struggle to take decent photos with my mirrorless camera, but I just need to keep snapping away. I think they're a little harder though.

Not only are mirrorless cameras dominating the present; they will also define the future. DSLR cameras are more straightforward and easy to use, but mirrorless cameras seem sophisticated. It may take you a while to get used to them.

 I like the dedicated shortcut keys and think that was a great idea. Oddly enough, it feels like there's so much competition among tech companies that they're making oddly specific products to gain that niche consumer.

They look handy and they're affordable.  However, you can create your own shortcut keys by remapping parts of the keyboard.  There's tons of freeware that'll do it.

Both the mouse and the keyboard look well-done and you can't do much  better than the battery life offered by these.  Logitech knows how to create peripherals that make work and travel easier.

There are some buyers who will look at it as an investment.  With that much RAM they're unlikely to need another upgrade for a long while.  Sometimes paying a little more at the start can save you money in the long run.
