Asus has revised its flagship gaming laptop with a back-to-basic design, transforming its daring design into something more powerful without compromising much on thinness and weight. This is the Asus ROG Zephyrus S, leading the pack of Asus’s latest gaming laptops.
The design of the laptop is as slim and sexy as ever, coming in at 14.2 x 9.9 x 0.7 inches and weighing under 5 pounds. As seen in previous design, the top cover has a brushed aluminum design and a cutout where the hinge is and an RGB-lit ROG logo engraved on the right hand side. However, the chassis is made of reinforced magnesium alloy, with a soft-touch finish.
In this new lineup, Asus has gone with a standard keyboard in place of the usual forward-facing keyboard layout. And with the standard layout, you will be losing out on a numpad and discrete mouse buttons. The Asus ROG Zephyrus S can be configured with up to a Core i7-9750H processor, 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. It caps out with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 for the GPU. To keep the bezels razor-thin, it does not have a webcam, but an external webcam will be offered as an option.
As far as the display goes, it has a 15.6-inch, Full HD (1920 x 1080), Nvidia G-Sync/Optimus panel. With Asus revamping its refresh rates, it enters the world of 240Hz. This will be available on the Asus ROG Zephyrus S, with an option for the 144Hz. It also comes with a 3ms response time,100% coverage of the sRGB color gamut that is Pantone validated and Nvidia’s anti-stutter G-Sync technology.
The Asus’ Active Aerodynamic System (AAS), which lifts up the underside when the lid is open to keep the system cool, is back in the Asus ROG Zephyrus S. It is a kickstand in the base that reveals a cooling vent underneath and gives the brand new Nvidia and Intel parts the room needed for maximum possible performance. It is equipped with the Asus’ new ROG Intelligent Cooling feature so that you can adjust the fans to Turbo, Balanced and Silent in the Armory Crate app.
