Awair Glow C smart plug
Awair has launched a smart home device called the Glow C, an amalgamation of a smart plug and air quality-sensing technology, plus other smart home functionalities such as customizable night light. It is an upgraded version of the original Glow from a few years back. It’s available at an introductory price of $75 for a period, which is $25 less than the prior Glow model. After July 31st, the Glow C will go to its regular price of $89.
Like other larger Awair products, the Glow C can measure temperature, humidity, and volatile organic compounds, or VOCs (but not carbon dioxide, which the first model did detect). It can then use that data to trigger devices that are plugged into it, such as a fan, humidifier, or air conditioner. The Glow C is equipped with a motion sensor, so it will only turn on a device when it sensed someone in the room. Compared to the original Glow C introduced in 2016, Awair has added another feature, which is a built-in multicolor LED light which can act as a visual indicator for air quality, or simply as another way to add some ambiance to a room. (Green is good, red is bad.) As with other smart plugs, there’s a button on the Glow C to turn it on and off from the plug itself.
It also integrates with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and IFTT for syncing data to other sources and expanding your smart home’s abilities.
