The Gigabyte AORUS Gen 4 M.2 SSD utilizes PCIe 4.0 controller with Toshiba Bisc4 Nand Flash memory particles, an improvement of PCIe 3.0 which translates to 5000MB/s sequential read speeds. The series offers 3 capacity options at 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, comes in 2280 module sizing and supports the PCIe 4.0x4 M.2 interface. Whereas SATA SSDs use data and power cables, the M.2 SSDs are easier to configure with its cable-free design which improves circulating airflow in the chassis, increasing overall heat dissipation. Also, the full body copper heatsinks have better heat transfer capacity compared to aluminum heatsinks.

Aside from the material, the thermal architecture design is built with efficiency in mind. Compared with a plated M.2 heat spreader, the copper heat spreaders with 27 fins add more surface area which improves thermal transfer from heating sources to obtain thermal balance sooner. It helps maintain an appropriate machine temperature under the ultra-high transfer rate.
