Lenovo Thinkpad T495

Overall Ratings:
Description:

Lenovo has launched a revised family of ThinkPad business laptops which are powered by AMD processors. The new Lenovo Thinkpad T495 will include 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen Pro mobile CPUs (up to the AMD Ryzen 7 Pro) and AMD Radeon Vega integrated graphics among the configuration choices.

On the 14-inch Lenovo Thinkpad T495, Lenovo uses a new 1,920-by-1,080-pixel Full HD display rated at 400 nits of brightness. Coupled with the white backlit keyboard, there is the potential to work unhindered in any lighting conditions. For those working with 3D content or playing games, Lenovo is taking advantage of AMD's Radeon FreeSync which supports a dynamic refresh rate to reduce screen tearing and stuttering and are MIL-SPEC rated to withstand the rigors of operating out in the field.

Security features include the ThinkShutter integrated security cover for the webcam. There is a sliding switch that covers the webcam to prevent any prying eyes. With its customizable ThinkShield security platform, you have a choice of which software to pick from to keep your system safe.

With VoIP calls in mind, the audio in the Lenovo Thinkpad T495 has been enhanced through the usage of dual far-field microphones. This allows for clear voice chat even in noisy environments so that you can have better conference calls. In terms of ports, you get several USB Type-A 3.1 ports, a USB Type-C port, HDMI and a microSD card reader.

In addition, there is a new side-mounted mechanical docking system in the Lenovo Thinkpad T495. This allows flexible support mechanics to enable self-leveling at any angle for increased connectivity, stability, and longer platform durability. Hence, it should be easier to use with less risk of the dock or laptop being damaged in the process.

Of interest to anyone considering a purchase of the Lenovo Thinkpad T495 is Lenovo's claim of up to four hours of extra battery life per charge and 18 percent more performance. A faster laptop that is unlikely to run out of power halfway through the day is highly desirable.
