Thanks for sharing this info! I just went into my settings and opted-out. I'm surprised Amazon has made this move. Their sales don't seem to have suffered, despite any privacy concerns that consumers and watchdogs might have. So why bother?

Well, it's obviously because they care so much about protecting our privacy. I'm being sarcastic of course. My guess is that Amazon was looking for good PR and new most users wouldn't bother to change the settings.

We all know the automated home device market is huge, but wow - $75 billion! That's an astronomical amount. By 2025, we should have lots of great new products on the market as well. Perhaps we'll be living in a Jetson home before we know it :)

Silentcrescendo
It sounds like a fantastic benefit and something I'll use. I like that the device records what's going on so you can determine whether it's something serious or just an exuberant pet playing with its toy.
Pettyboop
I haven't had a chance to test it out yet, but it's a great feature and I'm pretty surprised that Amazon is offering it as a free update.
Phoenix
I find it oddly generous of them too, but I bet these are the basic safety features and us users are beta testers for what's coming next. Amazon is just harvesting our data and determining how we use Alexa Guard before repackaging it and... See more
