It is never advisable to charge the laptop while it is in use because it tends to heat up. Either way, a long battery life makes a laptop very reliable. Do the double-cell battery laptops have an advantage over the rest?

I wasn't aware that using a laptop while plugged in could cause it to overheat. I appreciate this list as it's nice to know which laptop/tablet combos offer the longest battery life per charge.

It may depend on the make and model but I've never had an issue with my laptop overheating. I use it almost exclusively while plugged in. It's a desktop replacement for me. That being said, it would be nice to have a machine that lasts a long... See more

I agree with you then again, isn't it the case that battery life will also vary depend on usage? I also envisage a time when it will be needless to plug in your laptop to power every other time.

Under normal circumstances, it is the power adapter that heats up when the laptop is being used and the battery is being charged. It is never easy to ensure that the laptop only gets charged when not in use.
