Consumers probably opted to settle with brands because there were limited options then. With many new establishments now coming up, cost has started being the major yardstick. I have a huge preference for an excellent picture quality and it guides most of my TV purchasing decisions.

A few years ago certain electronic brand names stood for quality products so it was worth paying more for that brand. That's just not true anymore as the field has evened out.

Consumers are less loyal to brands these days. They want the best deal. The most bang for their buck. Whoever can provide that (or convince the buyer they can provide it through clever advertising) is going to get the sale.

I completely agree because few people care about specific details like picture clarity and brand ceased to be a major factor when making the purchasing decision. Hopefully, the prices will continue being affordable because of the new entrants.

Nowadays, there are so many TV brands and this has compromised quality to a great extent. Consumers are better off scrutinizing the features and making a decision based on preference.
