Perhaps we do not frequently do the cleaning and even when doing so, it is so easy to do this the wrong way. I had no idea that pushing directly on the screen could cause the pixels to burn out.

Nice tips. I'm very careful when it comes to cleaning my screens but I see lots of people doing things like spraying Windex on their monitors. I'm glad to see an article outlining the best practices.

I'm guilty of doing all those things and I had no idea it was wrong! Thank goodness my TV hasn't suffered yet. I'm thankful this list appeared when it did!

Do you think this list of do's and don'ts can be applied to cleaning the phone screens? I would like to add that the type of cloth that should be used to clean the screen should be made of cotton. Other types of cloth might scratch the surface... See more

I would think so as well but probably this would depend on whether or not a screen protector is in use? It is always important to exercise caution when cleaning delicate surfaces.

I've been using a microfiber cleaning cloth on my screen, but the idea of using distilled water is new to me. I need to dig up my manual.
