After reading the article it feels pretty obvious that this is about protecting their ad revenue, not user privacy as they tried to claim. Will this make you switch browsers?

Yeah, this isn't meant to benefit users at all. I guess Google needs extra funds to cover that big fine that was recently levied. I'll switch browsers if third-party adblockers fail.

I wonder if this will affect other add-ons other than the third-party ad blockers. I understand that some of the add-ons may not be safe for us, but I think it's better to disable or disapprove those add-ons instead. The technical details... See more

The jury is still out for me as to their intentions. Really though, I'm surprised they didn't lock things down when adblockers first became popular. I bet most other browsers will follow suit.

I'm interested to see how this plays out. I don't "trust" Google, but if the company was going to make it harder to block ads in order to gain revenue, wouldn't they have done so years ago?
