Look at it this way, if the security researcher hadn't shared these findings, the location data of the app users would still be accessible. Is there anything that can be done about such rogue companies? It is no longer safe to be online anymore.

I think that there are gaps that make regulation almost non-existent. If there are laws that exist, then such perpetrators must face the full force of the law. If there is no restraint, we will continue to witness such serious breaches.
