I love the fact that I can be on this social platform without anyone being able to tell. Twitter has a way of letting you do your thing, without disclosing your online presence. If I had a choice, I'd opt to let things remain the way they are. Is this a ploy to get more people to register?

The internet has its own fad. I am not surprised that Twitter did this because most social media apps and websites have this feature. It is more about staying with the current than to attract more people.

You may be right about this and Twitter is trying to attract more people by having a similar feature from other social media apps. I don't think it will work though, because the uniqueness of Twitter will be gone if it follows other companies.

This feature is trending so incorporating this feature is a tactical move both for staying with the flow and to attract more people to use it again. I'm not sure if the 70 million who got their accounts frozen will come back.

I like Twitter as is. I don't see the point of adding more features. I even dislike the thought of an edit button on Twitter as many users want. I was an early adopter and I love the simplicity of it. So I don't care for these trends at all.

I was an early adopter too and didn't we all love the fact that you couldn't/wouldn't use more than 140-characters in a tweet? I feel like Twitter will eventually succumb to the pressure and join the bandwagon.
