By Microsoft abandoning the development of its own EdgeHTML rendering engine, Google will probably have a bigger portion of the desktop-browser market share. It wouldn't be easy to compete with an establishment that owns Chrome, YouTube and Gmail.

When a smaller company enters the market successfully, they're often acquired by the big fish who can outcompete them anyway. The only thing that can stop Google's monopoly is our political and judicial system,

This makes sense Darren_jax and this has become the trend when larger companies want to kill competition. Unfortunately, the political and judicial system may not be willing to immediately enact laws to that effect.

I always thought there were laws in place to protect consumers from large corporations holding a monopoly. This doesn't seem to be the case for the tech giants. I'm not really sure how these laws work, but they don't seem to be doing a thing... See more

This is very true and it would have been up to the other market players to make their browsers as user-friendly as Google Chrome. At the end of the day, it is the consumer that becomes the victim of this capitalism.
