Apple has introduced Ipod touch 7th generation model, albeit the first updated version in several years. It improves the processor to an A10 Fusion chip with a new 256GB storage option.

Apart from that, it appears that the rest of the specs remains the same - a bezeled 4-inch display, home button, and cameras.

The A10 chip provides sufficeient horsepower for a few features, including Group FaceTime calls and Apple’s ARKit augmented reality apps which were unavailable on the previous iPod touch versions.

The updates will provide a maximum of 2x faster CPU performance and maximum of 3x faster graphics.

Apple could be highlighting its subsequent Apple Arcade gaming subscription service as a key part of the device, which could be the reason for the spec power-up: to ensure the new iPod touch is capable to run no those games.

Apple recently released a new iPod Touch, which is something I didn't expect. I thought the company was phasing out their iPod line, so this is a pleasant surprise. I ordered one online and am impatiently waiting for it to arrive.
