Garmin has two new high-end Forerunner GPS smartwatches, the new Garmin Forerunner 245 and Garmin Forerunner 245 Music. In particular, the new Garmin Forerunner 245 Music GPS watch comes with a focus on music not just exercise, and allows you to listen to music, phone-free.
The Garmin Forerunner 245 series provide personalized insight for training and recovery using additional monitoring tools like VO2 max to provide data on how oxygen is being absorbed especially after workouts. They have adjustments for heat, recovery time and aerobic and anaerobic training effects. Users can pair their new Garmin Forerunner 245 series watches with a Running Dynamics Pod, also from Garmin, or a compatible heart rate strap to see additional dynamics.
Both watches are touted to feature 7 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and 24 hours in GPS mode. On top of that, the Garmin Forerunner 245 series smartwatches even have the same 42mm display.
However, there is one big difference: the new Garmin Forerunner 245 Music lets runners listen to music phone-free. Users can store up to 500 songs on the device and sync playlists from selected preloaded music streaming services like Spotify, if they have a premium account, or just transfer songs over from a computer. It offers users 6 hours in GPS mode with music battery life.
The Garmin Forerunner 245 is available in grey and merlot, while the Forerunner 245 Music comes in black, white, or aqua.
