Razer has recently upgraded its seventeen-inch gaming laptop, the new Razer Blade Pro 17 (2019). It packs a 17-inch laptop into 15-inch chassis, gets Intel’s new 9th Generation processor, a Nvidia RTX GPU and a 1920 x 1080 display with a 144-Hertz refresh rate. In short, it’s a mightier but smaller multimedia gaming machine.
The Razer Blade Pro 17 (2019) is brought in line with the company’s current design, giving it a boxy retro-chic aesthetic. The entire chassis is still made from black CNC aluminum; with only black being available for now. Switching to smaller bezels in this new design, there is just 6mm between the screen edge and physical edge which is quite a good ratio on the seventeen-inch screen. Windows Hello is implemented as well with the webcam.
The previous number-pad and trackpad that was situated to the right of keyboard have been removed from the Razer Blade Pro 17 (2019), with the qwerty layout moved into the centre of the laptop. This should make for a more comfortable user experience. While it is primarily a gaming machine, the high specifications could see it being adopted by those who need the extra graphical power for video rendering or CGI artwork.
In terms of specs, that ninth-generation Intel Core processor is the i7-9750H, running at 2.6GHz which can be boosted up to 4.5 GHz. It is not a huge jump from the previous iteration, being still based on 14nm technology and six cores. This is additionally backed up with a baseline 16 GB of RAM, and a 512 GB SSD. The Razer Blade Pro 17 (2019) has space for an M.2 slot which can fit an additional drive, with easy access to the paired DIMM RAM slots with up to 64 GB of Memory. Graphics-wise, you have the choice of the RTX2060, the RTX2070 Max-Q, or the RTX 2080 Max-Q.
In addition, throw in a plethora of ports (including 3x USB-A, 2x USB-C, thunderbolt 3, 2.5Gb ethernet, HDMI and an SD Card reader), as well as the usual Razer signatures such as the Chroma programmable colored keys, a 144Hz refresh panel, and Dolby Atmos supported sound and you have the first beast of a laptop with Intel’s latest chipset. There is going to be a small gain over the previous models - which will satisfy those looking for ultimate performance.
