Description:

The Quest is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 mobile chip. While the computer built into the Quest may not be as powerful as a standalone PC, not requiring a personal computer to operate makes it possible to move around without restrictions. The headset is lighter and more comfortable to wear with the weight more evenly distributed. The headset includes four wide-angle cameras for inside-out positional tracking, and contrarily to the Oculus Go, which lacks positional tracking, the Quest's tracking system does provide the six degrees of freedom provided by the Rift and other headsets. (From Wikipedia)

Next level gameplay: Launching with original games and experiences like Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series.

All-in-one VR: Simply set up the device with your Oculus mobile app and Oculus Quest has everything you need to explore VR, right out of the box.

Insight tracking: Oculus Insight tracking system instantly reflects your movements in VR without the need for any external accessories.

Touch controllers: Oculus Touch controllers precisely recreate your hands, their gestures and interactions, so every game is real enough to reach out and touch.

Beyond room-scale: Oculus Quest works with your environment, so you can play standing or sitting, in spaces big or small.

Talk about an upgrade, that's pretty huge.  I'm glad they're working on ways to let us tether it a PC as well and it sounds like it will be super easy to do.

Being able to just use your hands instead of controllers will make for more immersive gameplay.  Zuckerberg sure has been busy.  What do you think about the latest social media platform Facebook Horizon VR?

I haven't tried it, but I've read reviews and they sure are mixed.  It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.  It's amazing how far VR capabilities have come over the years.

VR and AR are beginning to make headlines, despite not getting the kickstart that most people anticipated. Interestingly, Facebook continues to create its niche in the market, despite all the publicity. I can't wait for 2020.

I wonder how well this works, I think it would enhance the experience not having a hand-held device to track movements. It seems very interesting to try out. I like that VR is improving and I am excited to see what it will look like 5 years from... See more

There are always new features for VR. I’m not very surprised when it comes to this new feature but I appreciate how VR developers keep on improving their products. Yet, we always need to wait for the product reviews in order to really get to... See more

I love the look of this new headset. I'm dying for an excuse to buy a VR headset :) Prices have gone down a lot over the last few years so I should be able to pick one up soon.

Comprehensive VR Buying Guide

This is the most comprehensive buying guide that I've seen for #VR #technology. Who comes out on top? It depends on what you're looking for and what you already own. #OculusQuest #Oculus #SonyPlaystationVR #ValveIndex #HTCVivePro #Sony #Samsung #OculusRift #virtualreality #gaming

Well, quite an elaborate guide, especially for those people who are not too familiar about with VR. I had no idea that you could get a VR set for less than $500; they all seemed pricey for me!

Is VR Gaming Finally Taking Off?

It looks like sales for the game Superhot are on fire. Since the game's sales are 300% higher on the new VR headset Oculus Quest then it sold on the old Oculus Rift, could this be a signal that VR gaming is finally taking off?

Well, that could be the case even though it may be too early to tell. What isn't without doubt is the fact that the current VR gaming hardware is much better when compared to dedicated consoles and PCs.

It must be liberating to be able to play without wire, so I expect that Quest will be more popular in general. Also, it seems like the game library for these VR machines is nowhere huge, and Superhot has already established its name, so that's... See more

I have this headset and it is much better than the previous model in my opinion.  The controllers have greatly improved.  There are quite a few games available, especially when you  consider that the device hasn't been out long.

I love playing Superhot and recommend it if you haven't tried it before.  I think the lower price of VR gear and games might have something to do with virtual reality's increase in popularity.

New Games for Oculus Quest

According to VentureBeat, only one game is over $30, but most games are between $15 and $30 each. There are plenty of free games too. It looks like a great lineup so far.

I'm glad the games are reasonably priced.  I'm most looking forward to playing Ocean Rift and Creed.  I can't wait to see how they turn out.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. I'm really excited about this. I'm definitely going to be getting an Oculus soon. They've managed to convince me that it's a wise purchase :)

VR sounds exciting again.

Current VR devices and games have always seemed lackluster to me. The devices are too clunky and the games are all in their "Alpha" stage. This review managed to make the Oculus sound enticing. For the first time, I actually want to test out and see what it's like. Maybe they'll have one set up in a video game store for customers to use?

I don't know if I'll jump on this one or not when it's available.  The reviews sound good though.  I'm interested to see where VR will take us in the future and will be staying tuned.

I agree, the review makes it sound like a lot of fun. The price isn't too bad either. Not long ago, all VR headsets were over $1000.

It's only a matter of time before they perfect the "secret sauce" formula for VR games. The technology is in its infancy and we are from from seeing the best it can offer. It just isn't quite the holodeck yet.

Standalone VR Oculus Quest

I'm glad to see some improvements in VR technology, but I think there's still much that could be improved. It appears to stay charged for a while which is a big plus. It's frustrating when you're playing and learn that the battery is about to die.

I'm glad to see they've done something about the dragging that caused some of us gamers to feel motion sickness.  The touch controllers appear to have improved too.

When I've tried to wear VR goggles for longer than 30 minutes the motion sickness gets really bad.  I learned to break things up to keep that from happening, since I was fine if I limited my time.  Hopefully this new, upgraded pair has fixed the... See more
