Backing up my hard drive feels so tedious at times.  I've tried setting it up so that it syncs to my Amazon Drive account every three days, but it really slows things down so I tend to abort it.

I like the dedicated shortcut keys and think that was a great idea. Oddly enough, it feels like there's so much competition among tech companies that they're making oddly specific products to gain that niche consumer.
DarrenJax
They look handy and they're affordable.  However, you can create your own shortcut keys by remapping parts of the keyboard.  There's tons of freeware that'll do it.
DarrenJax
It wasn't long ago that most phone owners didn't even bother to password protect their phone.  Why is it treated like such a tragedy now if someone can access it?

Apple and Disney will be nipping at their heels in no time, especially since Netflix is priced higher and is losing content left and right.
DarrenJax
Disney has a huge advantage.  It's affordable for families and parents know their kids can be entertained without being exposed to a bunch of bad stuff.
DarrenJax
While I'm sure this USB-C device improves security, I think it would be a hassle to use daily.  I guess that's why it's aimed at IT personnel and high powered executives.
DarrenJax
Those look like a good deal.  I've not tried this brand before though.  If you have, I'd love to hear what you think as I might pick one up for my son's birthday.
DarrenJax
The short battery life is a huge stumbling block for me. It would make work and travel more difficult since I'd have to worry about having power.  That's too bad as it looks like a nice laptop.
DarrenJax
I always forget how to execute most of them, so this list makes for a handy cheat sheet.  The /? option that can be added on to any command seems useful.
DarrenJax
I like the way that part of the screen can easily turn into an attached keyboard.  That's very handy instead of carting extra peripherals around.
DarrenJax
That's a good list and I appreciate being able to see all the alternatives in one place.  I had no idea there were so many!
DarrenJax
Zuckerberg hasn't gotten it wrong so far, so I don't understand why he faces so much pushback from his own executives and lower-level employees.  It would be one thing if the company was falling, but it isn't.
DarrenJax
Yeah, I'm charmed by the suitcase as well.  It was a clever design idea.  The only issue would be keeping it from getting too hot.
DarrenJax
Nice review!  I've seen the OnePlus 7T compared to the older lineup of iPhones, and at this price, I wouldn't mind owning it at all.  This phone offers a ton of value for what you get!

I don't think I'd be comfortable with Amazon listening to me all day.  That's a lot of microphone power to wear on your face everyday.

Don't forget that Google Glass could be used to take photos and video without the other party knowing or consenting.  It was the creep factor that did Google Glass in for the general public.  Bose sunglasses don't currently have those same... See more

Being able to just use your hands instead of controllers will make for more immersive gameplay.  Zuckerberg sure has been busy.  What do you think about the latest social media platform Facebook Horizon VR?
DarrenJax
I haven't tried it, but I've read reviews and they sure are mixed.  It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.  It's amazing how far VR capabilities have come over the years.
DarrenJax
@Funflame Yeah, it's the dark wood veneer that's throwing me off.  It might have worked in the late 1970s to early 1980s, but it seems out of touch now.
DarrenJax
Google could use some competition with a fantastic Andriod fork that's self-sustaining or maybe Huawei will create a whole new smartphone ecosystem.  Competition is good and this might be the thing to make it happen.
DarrenJax
Yeah, Apple's products are usually fairly pricey, but I have this tablet and it's got a ton of great features.  It's super speedy and has a long battery life as well.   I never have a problem with movies stuttering on my iPad Pro like I do on my... See more

I agree with the reporter - it looks like a cheese grater.  I'm guessing it's done that way in order to keep things  cool, but it looks ridiculous in my opinion.

I'm patiently awaiting CNET's test results before buying these two.  I have a much older model and need to get a newer one,  but I want to make sure the mop and vacuum here works just as well as they claim.  Otherwise, I'll buy a Roomba 980.

That's a nice setup, especially the Corsair 280x RGB.  I need to work on my battlestation as I have cords going everywhere and it's quite a mess. @Delilah, those light panels look fantastic and I see them often on r/battlestations, but they're... See more

Both of these Chromebooks seem great, but I don't think these will be  widely adopted as most businesses still use Microsoft computers.  It's tough to make people  change, even if it saves them money.
DarrenJax
Other than the pop-up selfie camera, this phone seems just like every other model that's coming out.  It'll be interesting to see if those features are enough to woo consumers.
DarrenJax
I think we just get used to technology improving that it's hard to remember where we came from.  I've noticed that batteries are lasting longer and charging quicker overall.

Stand-alone cameras generally allow closer zooming options, which is great, but I have fat fingers and wouldn't be able to work the tight controls on this model.
DarrenJax
I'm quite surprised that people aren't embracing them as enthusiastically as they did in the past.  Apple usually has dedicated fans.  Even their $1,000 iPhone X once sold well.
DarrenJax
When a smaller company enters the market successfully, they're often acquired by the big fish who can outcompete them anyway.  The only thing that can stop Google's monopoly is our political and judicial system,

Every company probably harvests data, including those that are open source.  I understand the writer's point in this experiment, but the writer is really just trading one problem for another.
DarrenJax
I'd probably try it.  It doesn't look much different than flying in a helicopter and I bet it would be an experience to remember.  I hope their idea pans out.
DarrenJax
It's nice to see a laptop that is lightweight with a long battery life.  A lot of times it seems you get one or the other.
DarrenJax
What a cool idea!  Well then again, I don't want machinery to replace the people who cook the pizzas.  I hope that Pizza Hut isn't so focused on speed that they hurt their product quality.
DarrenJax
I stopped losing them once I started buying the USB thumb drives that hook on my keys.  I keep some standard rescue apps on it like the article suggests.
DarrenJax
Thanks for posting this article.  I've been meaning to encrypt my phone, but wasn't sure how to go about it.  I had no idea it was that easy to encrypt an iPhone!

I know that public opinion has changed about tech companies in general, but lo and behold these same people continue to buy and use the products and services.  I see it as a good time to buy stock in tech companies while the prices are down.

Nice breakdown here!  The only issue that I have with Huawei is that so many companies are forbidding their use for work due to alleged possible spying by China.  I take work home with me all the time.
DarrenJax
I feel that disappointment since Huawei products are priced well and appear to be quality devices too.  Sadly, it's becoming harder to find stores that carry the brand.

I remember years ago when the graphics card couldn't handle big games.  Today, both Fortnite and PUBG look good on a small screen and most modern phones are capable of running them.  I play Fortnite on my iPhone all the time.

Hey, thanks for sharing!  I've found some new favorites like Product Hunt and IFTT.  Reddit is usually good for killing time.  Just depends on the sub you visit.

I had a Motorola Droid and thought the full keypad was so cool - and  it was at the time!   I'm currently a dedicated iPhone user, but my friend has the new Pixel and its AR and Night Sight photo capabilities are amazing.
DarrenJax
I wonder if Apple's battle with Qualcomm has anything to do with the delay and decision to erase any mention of the charger?  Maybe there's nothing to it.  It wouldn't be the first time a tech company over-promised and under-delivered.
DarrenJax
I want to see the new iPad Pros since they're supposed to be "overhauled" according to the article.  Just being able to share a charger with my other devices is compelling enough for me.
DarrenJax
This could turn into  a novelty thing, but that's about it.  Facebook seems to have many irons in the fire.  It's hard to tell what their main focus is - well, other than data collection.
DarrenJax
My commute to work is a nightmare! I like the idea behind this and would like to see it accepted more broadly.  Do you think many corporations will change?
DarrenJax
I think some of it has to do with the improvements in wireless capabilities, but it's important to remember these are just rumors.  I can't see Apple producing new AirPods this soon.
DarrenJax
Yes, they're more expensive, but Macs last for ages and most compatible software programs are generally less expensive than the Windows compatible versions.  Plus,  the Genius Bar makes it super convenient to get help.
DarrenJax
Yes, but I think it looks more like a cartoon character than me.  I don't dress up my text message and forum posts with images, so it's not that useful for me.  If  I didn't have the capability, I'm sure I'd  be chomping at the bit for it. ... See more

I like the fact that Face ID will be actualized in these models, even though I do wish that the home button shouldn't have been done away with, in the first place. I wouldn't mind saving up some money, for these.
DarrenJax
Yeah, I prefer a home button.  I'm glad to see the new products coming out and will probably pick up another iPad at some point.
DarrenJax
This seems like an excellent deal for what you get and competition usually helps the consumer.  I miss Sonic the Hedgehog and other Sega Genesis games.
DarrenJax
Calling it "all-access" is misleading in my opinion.  According to the article, it's only good for 30 rides per month that are valued at $15 or less or you'll pay the difference.  That's hardly worthy of being called an all-access subscription. ... See more

Great timing. The dock I'm using now is huge.  It takes up a good chunk of my desk and is super heavy, so I'm looking for something new.  I can't believe the iPhone has been around since 2007.  Time has flown!

I have lost my keys before and almost missed an important appointment and so I think that would suit a lot of people, like me. Which one, among those listed in the article, would you go for?

I use Tile Mate and it works well, but if you've lost your keys in public be ready for everyone nearby to know.   The volume can be loud, which aids in the retrieval.  It's been a huge time saver.
