Privacy online has sadly become a joke. I wonder how they're gathering their data because some of the "targeted ads" sent to me are ridiculous. Facebook seems to think I am a doctor, therapist, writer and pilot...just to name a few!
Clyde33
It is no longer a matter of whether or not online exists. Nowadays, it is about how much of our data these companies gather and probably share with third-party apps. Online companies use specific algorithms to 'spy' on users.
Clyde33
A subscription-filled world could soon be the norm, with more companies joining the bandwagon. These alternatives may not offer the best use of your money, but I see how a Network-Attached Storage could be an alternative to Dropbox.

I agree that as long as it is stated somewhere that the maximum is 15GB and after that you pay, it is reasonable. But maybe they are now noticing that this storage is getting out of hand.
Clyde33
I had never heard of the storage cap, until now. Could it be that users get notified once the 15GB plan is nearing exhaustion? I wouldn't mind paying if there was a value attached to it!

It's fascinating how much goes into consideration when designing a game.  I've been addicted to gaming since I was a kid and it's easy to forget how much work it takes behind the scenes.
Clyde33
There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes, and yes, it is easy (at times) to fail to appreciate all the effort that is put in. All the same, this is a challenge that developers can surmount.
Clyde33 commented on Do you use a VPN?

I stopped using a VPN a few years ago, because of the assumption that its use was limited. Having read that there are many more uses it, I will consider getting one soon. Pro versions offer more security, in my opinion.

In high-traffic areas like large cities, I can see why the upgrade would matter a great deal to those consumers.  However, it's a weird thing for critics to focus on.   Amazon made the same decision and it wasn't made into a big issue.
Clyde33 - Edited
Critics will always choose what to say even when it's not a big deal. There wasn't much criticism when Amazon opted to retain the Wi-Fi 5 chipsets in the new Eero models. Cost and performance explain the lack of Wi-Fi 6.

I regularly install beta updates that seem interesting.  It's easy to roll back the update (and the machine if necessary) so why not check out those cool features?
Clyde33
I agree, but rolling back an update can be a tedious and unnecessary process. I avoid the beta updates but ensure that most of my devices run on the latest software versions.
Clyde33
I find myself muting the constant notifications when a new software update is available. All the same, it is necessary to install these updates when they become available.

Such a bold move from Apple and so the likes of Netflix and Showmax should be wary of the new entrant. It will be interesting to see how everything else changes in the next few years.
